The Band
will play anywhere, anytime, depending on the Pie Count.
There have
been some terrific friends to the band over the years, strangely most
of them have - big thank you to Basher, Porky Paul Pickford, John Denholm,
Rachel Townsend and Mark, Grantie, Mick and Christie, and the many who
have helped and supported us over the last 40 months - here's to the next!!
|
| With
his new position as IL Duce, the Fat Controller sacked Psycho Mark,
with the consensus of all the Band , and Untrustworthy Neil left
in sympathy as Mark was his 'mate', then Ants left, as Neil was
his 'mate'. Fortunately no-one else left at this juncture, and the
band went onto better and more gigs, and Porky Steve, a Bass player,
who replied to the advert, was taken on. Alfie the Wolfman (Drums)
was already on as retainer to stand in as soon as Psycho Mark's
head blew off - which it did - a bit Spinal Tappish. Dr. Maz took
over on Sax, and the band went on for nearly a year with that line-up.
At the end of, 1999, the band were awarded 'Clubland Act of the
Year' by the North East Clubland Association.
Dr
Maz could no longer fulfill her commitments on Sax, so Ants rejoined
the band for a few months. After a few months, Ants was finding
that burning the candle at both ends was too much and he quit;
so Jake the Snake, A.K.A. Rick Shag joined. A college boy, he
introduced the Sound man, Wally Wood who became the seventh member.
Roadies
have come and gone, but to date there's been Comedy Dave - manic
depressive - very tall bloke, overdosed on drugs. Ugly Noel, overdosed
on Sleep, John, who's following a life of crime, Rob who got caught,
Mick with his bad knee, Fat ed, on stage security, still fat and
still with us, and finally Anth, on lights, and talking in his
strange, bizarre accent.
The
band have a terrific following with a data base of fans of about
700. The support continues to grow and the venues are getting
bigger. Strangely for a Ska band, the Motorbike rally circuit
has proved to be very busy - although if it wasn't for Weddings,
Birthdays, Funeral and private bookings, the work would be scarce.
The band will not go through Agents, because after all, if the
Band are making nowt, then why should the agents? This probably
does the band no good with regards to work, by why should anyone
pay protection? Especially, not the Gangsters.
